Sham-A-Lama-Ding-Dong

Why is the ShamWow! guy wearing a headset while he's doing the informercial?

Is it because we could talk to him directly if we call? Is it that they want him to look like he's too busy to explain something so obvious that we'd be stupid not to buy it?

Or is it a corporate down-sizing thing where they're simultaneously recording the radio ad?

Isn't it also a curious advertising strategy that a product pushed on television would start with "sham?"

I know he beat up a hooker.

I'm just saying -- these are the questions that trouble me ...

At first, I was totally disgusted with that character. Then, I found some kind of respect for him. He sounds like a con-artist, and not even a good con-artist. Yet somehow, inexplicably, he manages to sell shit.

He is certainly more of a pop-culture icon than Billy Mays, if only because he is a bad and somewhat seedy caricature of the original.

Yeah, and what's with the one bugged-eye thing... he's creepy. Have you seen his slap chop thing? He excitedly claims that we will love his nuts...

ewwww.no.

That dude is such a douche. Have you heard the remixed version of his "Slap Chop" commercial? HILARIOUS.

is the headset really more troubling than the hooking beating? Or how coked out he always seems in those commercials? I just accept the headset. But i cannot accept the sham wow. it's tainted with the blood of that hooker. I know she's not dead, but her soul died a little when she realized she was getting worked over by a douche bag that made his money selling a product called the ShamWow! He didn't even invent the fucking this. He just sold it.

I have never seen this man but he looks like one of those blokes you see in the market, selling boxes which should contain TV's but they just contain bricks or something.

Sham, indeed.
