if people didn't want to get injured they wouldn't be in the pit in the first place.

there's nothing quite like the pit.

i remember going to to see exodus in the late eighties and going to school the next day with multi-coloured bruises.

a great way to lose ones moshpit virginity.

damn, man, you commented like the very second i got the post up. cool.

what you say of the mosh pit is so true. there are many options. the pit is high risk, high reward.

sorry eric, that was me.

i thought i was the only person in the worldwho stole posters like that from gigs. if your friends are like mine, they'd be asking what the hell you wanted with that.

glad you had a good gig. a lot of gigs suck these days, in terms of crowd participation...or slamming the crap out of each other as i call it.

i didn't make it to the pit, but i was craving it. i wanted to be down there so bad. i think everyone else around me was too stoned or too erudite to handle my antics.

and, my friend made sure to tell me that he wants a photocopy!

Hey can you look into Tsar as Tony Pierce and J-mo are bigging them up hugely and it sounds like the kind of thing you'd like as well.

i can't find it over here - Asia is sucked into the boy band/girl band medium big time - or soppy ballads about folk who leave and don't come back for some reason or another.

and the imported stuff or pirate stuff is fairly mainstream

but today i did manage to find the best of they might be giants - loved birdhouse in your soul etc - and I also got the coral as it was bigged up hugely by German over at Fook the people (good site that you should check it out - sports/movie/music/stories- links on my listings)

and can anyone tell me about fall out boy?

In Malaysia, we are banned from moshing & crowd surfing at concerts! If you attempt to, they will physically remove you from the venue. Try tht!

Jay said...

Oh please. That sign makes me worries that they're going soft.

eric said...

trish, that sounds horrible, treacherous treason to rock. NOT cool!

ha, jay, i guarantee you they're not going soft. not judging from last night. i think it's one of those things they have to do to be able to play these nice arenas. insurance stuff and all. that's what happens when you make it big because they certainly encourage the pit ... very much so.

that's why i think that sign's so funny. it's like when the coach has to make the announcement for fans not to rush the court/field, then when they do anyway he celebrates with them.

though the argument could be made their music is softening a bit. that would certainly be a reasonable argument, though i still think it rocks!

and ... SOAD fans are a really cool, peaceful but thrashing kind of bunch. great general disposition there.

I am in deep love with Serj's voice. I have a great SOAD poster on my wall: the one we're they're all cartooned, have big heads and are riding a weird elephant with a turtle shell and stomping on the mushroom people!

I have the advantage of being large. So when I stand in the pit small people bounce off of me and I usually find two or three tiny but attractive girls clinging to my so as not to get destroyed.

krista, i love serj's voice, too. that's the first thing that attracted me to these guys three years ago. i was like, "what's up with THAT guy?" he does the intelligently goofy thing then the middle eastern flowing vowels kind of thing. i wish daron would return more to the back seat as far as vocals go.

jake, you might not like SOAD, but i definitely need you at the next one i go to. i can make it to the front usually -- more agility than strength :) -- but it'd be nice to stay solid on the rail.

of course, i'm not cute and petite or anything like that ...

dude! you blanked me! I wanted to know what you think of Tsar!

dan said...

say, how did your broken finger put up with all that?

eric said...

good question, dan.

the short answer is "ok, but with sharp pain later."

the long ... i actually didn't break my finger. i had it x-rayed and it's just very badly jammed. i've jammed a lot and it hurt so bad over the other ones that thought for sure a bone was out of place. hell, it even looked crooked.

but really the next day it loosened up enough to type again. i even taped it to another finger yesterday and played ball (shooting like shit of course).

i put this red electric tape around it. at the concert i kept throwing my right hand out. but i couldn't make a fist so it looked like i had this new "flip off the band" trend going on.

the finger hurt the next day, but moreso my neck and lower back from the head thrashing.

i know. boring. what is it about talking about injuries?

SOAD is a perfect blend of socio-political consciousness and neck-straining rock. Bless their hearts.

word.

i can't wait to see them again. almost a week later and i'm STILL jacked!

far out, i forgot about this post.

what's the "flip off the band " thing?

do excuse me for being a british numbskull.

eric said...

maybe i'm a numbskull, because i don't understand. what's "flip off the band" mean?
