'I Crouch Like A Crow, Contrast In The Snow'

A sunrise in the winter has so much more significance when you're unable to summon artificial light.

Or if you had spent your night halfway sleeping to make sure the fire is kept alive.

Or in preparation in knowing that the whole of the neighborhood's children will flock in and out your home because it's one with a fireplace where they can get warm after playing in the snow makes your clothes wet and your cheeks red.

Just one night and six inches of snow and no electricity... I know it's presumptuous, but I feel a kinship with this sunrise like the ancients of necessity must have.

You know, it's good when this happens. It makes us realise how much we take our home comforts for granted.

No TV, no Nintendo Wii, no cooker (if you use electric), no hot water (again if you have electric heating).

At a time when we are watching every penny we spend, I think having no electricity for a short while is a valuable lesson in what we can really live without.

But, if it weren't for electricity, you would n't have written this on t'internet.

Therefore, I conclude that electricity is vital. Let's build some more nuclear power plants.

Well said. I too, remember those kind of days when I lived back East. We had a wood burning stove which was popular when the power went out.
