Sun Shines In, You Are Awoken

The icy sun with frosty glow is thawing, yet the approach of the fullness of light has yet to defeat cold's stifling grip on the night air.

White petals defy the inertia of sleep, breaking through buds on a pear tree, casting the illusion of snowflakes.

Will we follow and embrace new life? Or long for the illusion?

The air is barrenly cold. For now, we sleep.

I love the language of that post. Beautifully written.

thanks, aimee. i appreciate that.

i should probably point out that the title of the post and one phrase within it is pulled from a black sabbath song, "behind the wall of sleep."

"icy sun with frosty glow." can't take credit for that one.

i was sitting in my truck listening to that song and checking out the bradford pears. it's been unseasonably cold here. springtime is always uncomfortable for me, because i enjoy hibernation.

kind of like birth, i guess. you don't always want to leave.

Beautiful again, Eric. But I lament the unseasonably warm weather this past week. I want a winter of cold, for a time anyway. We need a period of darkness and ice and huddling and shivering. We haven't had that this year. Winter is good for you. Winter kicks the lull of summer out of your brain and enlivens you for Spring.

yeah, helen, it sucks that we haven't had any real snow/ice/ lockdown society days.

one snowstorm, a little sledding and it lasted a day. i'm not quite ready for spring ... but then again i never really am.

for me, winter is more of a lull and summer is time to get your act together. i kind of like not having my act together.

I live in california, but i have had the experience of snow when i lived in the Sierra Nevada's. Snow and i don't get along (snow hates me). However, there is something incredibily beautiful about falling snow, small children waddling around in winter coats and scarfs, and the snow ball fights that occupy the hours. I miss it ever so slightly. :)

"mmmm ... needs sugar."

so you're morpheus, huh? that is interesting... You fancy yourself the keeper and giver of dreams? I'm not sure what the test says morpheus is, but that's what greek mythology says he is.

Enchanted. A Mid-March Night's dream.

Unseasonable warmth is an illusion I wish I could embrace.
Then I look outside.
Stupid reality staring me in the face whenver I open my eyes...
